Hassle-free setup


Setting up the Xtreamer Ultra is easy:

  1. Plug in the HDMI connector from your Xtreamer Ultra to an open port on your TV
  2. (Optional) Plug in the wired network cable, if used
  3. Plug in the Xtreamer Ultra OS operating system (also stored on a USB key)
  4. Change your TV to the correct HDMI input
  5. Turn on the Xtreamer Ultra with your remote control !
  6. Select your desired platform from the boot screen

Maintaining the Xtreamer Ultra is easy

The Xtreamer Ultra runs on a USB flash drive. If ever you run into problems, simply download the latest image and reflash it on a PC

The Xtreamer Ultra OS is based on the successful open sourced platform of linux Ubuntu 10.10 . We focused on simplicity, its reliability, and its ease of use. We added the generic ubuntu the necessary missing components to refine, further simplify, and speed up — from little things like ejecting external drives to big things like running the OS from the enclosed USB stick we provide in the box. We tried to elevate your expected common daily practices on a PC to be an amazing experience on TV. Here are just a few examples of how your Xtreamer Ultra experience was fine-tuned.

Features of Ultra OS

  • Ubuntu Refined, not reinvented
    We took the Ubuntu platform to the next level. We added so many essential packs, tweaks and fixes that the original generic distribution missed, we fine-tuned it to the Xtreamer Ultra hardware.

    We tested it on an HDTV as well as PC environments with our media players abilities as reference guide. The result is the Xtreamer Ultra OS. An operating system that allows you to enjoy your machine out of the box just as you would expect it to perform.
  • The Docky
    Very much the same as in MAC OS X, the Xtreamer Ultra OS utilize a bar of icons that sits at the bottom or side of your screen. It provides easy access to some of the more useful applications your system is pre-installed with.

    The Docky displays which applications are currently running, and holds windows in their minimized state. It's also the place to find the Trash (its icon looks like a waste basket). For your convenience, you can add your own applications, files, and folders to the Dock too. Of course, you can also remove stuff from the Dock. To remove an item from the Dock, just drag its icon off the Dock onto the desktop; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke.
  • Browse the Web
    We included Mozilla Firefox – for fast, safe web browsing. You can also choose from the dock to use the alternative browser Google Chromium.

    Once your Xtreamer ultra will be connected to the internet you will be able to enjoy both browsers that combines a minimal design with new technology designed to improve the user experience with download and documentation features.
  • Create professional documents and presentations
    We pre-installed everything you need to create professional documents, spreadsheets and presentations out of the box. The Xtreamer ultra OS comes pre-compiled with a fully compatible OpenOffice suite with Microsoft Office files.
  • Email and Chat
    The Ultra OS comes built in with Empathy. This Modern Mail client and Postler provides the user a snappier performance mail experience in which you can arrange your mailboxes exactly the way you want them. The elegant user interface makes it easy to manage all your email from a single, ad-free inbox which works with most email standards‚ including POP3 and IMAP.

    You will also be able to quickly integrate your chat accounts from Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, Jabber, AOL, QQ and many more.
  • Skype on TV
    We added also Skype. Make internet calls for free with Skype. Call friends and family on any phone with a new experience on your TV. Plug in a TV webcam into your Skype enabled TV and enjoy widescreen video calls from the comfort of your couch. With the Xtreamer Ultra you're ready to talk face-to-face in HD.
  • Get Social
    Xtreamer Ultra OS lets you access your Facebook and Twitter accounts straight from the desktop. We added a several customizable hot links with which you can connect to all your favorite websites or chat channels and make updates through a single window.
  • InstantView
    Xtreamer Ultra os features mac like innovative technology that gives you a sneak peek of entire files‚ even multiple-page documents and video‚ without opening them. All you have to do is select a file in the File manager and press the Space bar. An elegant transparent window appears, showing you the contents of the file instantly. It's great when you're looking for something specific but don't have time to open lots of files to find it.

    Instantly preview the contents of your documents without ever opening them. Flip through multipage PDFs and Microsoft Office documents, watch full-screen video, view photo slideshows, and more. With a single click.
  • Stack It
    We created on the Xtreamer Ultra OS 3 folders that allow you the benefit of navigation using Stacks. Once clicked you will see grid view, so you can easily view all the files inside. Quickly return to previous folders by clicking the return path icon in the upper left of the stack.
  • 3D Effects
    The Xtreamer Ultra OS comes built in an easy and fun-to-use windowed environment, allowing use of the graphics hardware to render each individual window and the entire screen, to provide some impressive effects, speed and usefulness.

    You will have the choice to toggle multiple workspaces with 3D Cube using CTRL ALT UP/LEFT toggling faces of the cube. You will also be able to Cover Flow your running apps using the CTRL ALT 1, CTRL ALT 2 and CTRL ALT 3.
  • Expose it
    Move your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen and instantly tiles all your open windows, scales them down, and neatly arranges them in a grid, so you can see what's in every single one. To see a full-screen preview, just press the Space bar.

    Instantly view all open windows in stunning style with a single keystroke. ExpossIt unshuffles overlapping windows on your desktop into an organized thumbnail view, so you can quickly locate and switch to any window or get to any file on the desktop. Take your mouse to the other corner of the screen and you will be able to push all the windows aside, giving you instant access to your desktop.
  • 1-Click Audio and video Setup
    We added the Xtreamer Ultra OS 3 icons visible on the desktop. Each of them is designed to allow you to perform a 1 click setup to your desired environment. You will be able to toggle from PC speakers environment to TV HDMI in once single click. You will be able to disable also the graphics effects of the OS in order to maximize the CPU power to handle even the most demanding videos.
  • Multilingual Support
    Xtreamer Ultra OS comes default with a couple languages, but it makes it easy to find and add a new interface language to your computer. To get started, open the System menu, select Administration, and then click Language Support.
  • Additional Features
    We added to the system many essential missing components you can reasonably expect on a modern OS. Amongst many we will highlight the desktop search function, NFS server, Teamviewer for remote support, Picasa for picture management, Zip/Rar file management, ISO mounting and of course many many more video playback related functions and tweaks.
  • Downloading Made Easy
    The Xtreamer Ultra OS comes built in with Jdownloader. It simplifies downloading files from One-Click-Hosters like Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com - not only for users with a premium account but also for users who don't pay. It offers downloading in multiple parallel streams, captcha recognition, automated file extraction, and much more. Additionally, many "link encryption" sites are supported - so you just paste the "encrypted" links and JD does the rest. JDownloader can import CCF, RSDF and the new DLC files.
  • Automatic Network Connection with NFS
    We appreciate that many of Xtreamer Ultra users will use their device as media streamer. To meet this end, we added the Ultra OS NFS server and client configuration and allowed easy mounting of any shared folder on your local network. Your NAS or any folder shared from Windows 7 will be automatically visible.
  • Special 1 Click pre-settings
    The Xtreamer Ultra is a device you can use in front of your LCD TV or as PC in your home office. In each scenario probably your settings and audio equipment will differ. We created for you a series of 3 Button which we placed on the desktop that will allow you to easily set your audio or video configuration to various pre-sets. If you Xtreamer ultra is connected only to a set of 2.1 PC speaker select ֿֿ\Analog/ while if your Ultra is connected to a home theater receiver you can set the HDMI to be its default.
  • Live Chat Connectivity
    Xtreamer Ultra OS allow you an easy to use and free chat client to connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and more chat networks all at once. Simply set your connection broadcast account and you will be good to go.
  • Desktop Widgets & Screenlets
    The Xtreamer Ultra OS is featured with fully themeable mini-apps that each solve basic desktop-work-related needs and generally improve the usability and eye-candy of the modern composited Linux-desktop. You will be able to put a nice dynamic Clock Wallpaper with the Wallpaper Clock , take advantage of web widgets with the Das screenlets for your every needs.
  • Install many apps
    The Xtreamer Ultra OS was selected to be based on Ubuntu because of many reasons. One of the main reasons is Ubuntu`s ability to give you instant access to thousands of free and open-source applications. All listed software is easy to find and install so you can have a thousands of apps to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
  • Easy Settings and Tweaking
    The Xtreamer Ultra OS, like any other operating system sometimes require your personal touch to meet your local expectations. We added bullet in an application designed to config the Ultra OS Ubuntu asier for everyone. It provides many useful desktop and system options that the default desktop environment doesn't provide

The Xtreamer Ultra is a PC. But not a simple PC. It comes built in with several unique features that distinguish it from other alternative you may consider. Here are 24 of them:

    You will be able to Boot the machine out of the box with ready made environments suitable as media center or as modern PC. Simply plug in the USB device into any of the USB slots available and turn on the machine.
